It seems as though the valley has lucked out with the beautiful weather. Besides a few spots of sunshine yesterday for a split second we were in the clouds looking down at the shadowed valley on a dry 52/45 day.
Starting Monday we will receive quite a bit of rain, the trend continuing through Friday. Rain jackets, umbrellas, and extra layers are strongly recommended. The llamas are scheduled to come up Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday this week, weather permitting. Happy Monday!

Doug Y: The temperature drop between the top of LeConte and Gatlinburg is governed in part by what is called the Atmospheric Temperature Lapse Rate and it is a guide which is driven in part by the moisture content of the air which is always changing. There are bizillions of articles covering that including Wiki. All in, I use 24 degrees Farenheit for the roughly 5000' differential twixt Gatlinburg and LeConte. I suppose downloading the Gatlinburg and LeConte weather data and comparing Highs and Lows would provide pragmatic data and eliminate speculation about moisture content and everything else!

I know I'm late on my reply. I was just able to check my computer today. The pumpkins were really good. Everybody is very artistic. I wish I could carve like that. Also how did the pumpkins get up there? I hope this winter the blog keeps going. I really enjoy it.
