2012 Season, In The Books!

11/21/2012

Well, our time has come to an end. The 2012 season is in the books. The crew will be strapping on their packs and heading off the mountain in a few hours. It has been a crazy year. Record temperatures and record snows. I am happy to be heading to the land of comfy couches and a big ole' fireplace. Oh yeah, and indoor plumbing. I will keep you all up to date on our summit of Kilimanjaro. Be on the look out for a few hijacked posts of images from the big mountain. I am going to pass this on to JP and let him say hello. I know he is looking forward to keeping you all up to date on his daily wanderings around the mountain top. See you in 2013.

Greetings, folks! My name is JP and I am thrilled to have returned for my 2nd season watching this glorious mountain. I'll be keeping y'all posted on the mountains' daily conditions, as well as my ramblings through the park. Yesterday's high temperature was 43 degrees and the overnight low was 31 degrees. Skies were partly cloudy at observation and it looks as though the mountain will have clear skies today and tomorrow. Happy hiking!

What a quick 8 months(season). I love reading this blog every morning from Wisconsin. We have made it down to the Smokies the last 2 years and already have our dates planned for next year. But this is the best fix a person can get that can't be physically there. Enjoy your time off to get the batteries recharged for next year.

JP, hopefully you get your snow fix. Being in Wisconsin, I look forward to the snow as well. We didn't get much last year. I have my snowblower tuned up and ready to roll for the first blizzard.

Happy and safe holiday's everyone.

To Allyson and all of the LeConte crew, it has been wonderful each time me and my family came up this year. 2 trips in pouring rains and the other a winter wonderland. Unless something happens, we will see you next march. Hopefully my son's and I can do a shelter hike and visit with JP between now and then. Until next year...

My family and I will be hiking LeConte on Friday (got to get rid of those Turkey Day calories!). It will be my first time, and I cannot wait. Thrilled we missed the blizzard, but is everything dry and solid again? Trying to prep our gear.

Thanks!

Yes, thanks to all the crew and welcome back JP. I wish I had the ability to look ahead and see if there's any snow on the menu. Patty Stevens and Susan B: I posted some comments for you under yesterday's blog. Between now and Christmas I believe I'll try taking the Boulevard trail out and down the other side on Trillium or Bullhead, provided that the weather remains similar to what it is right now. A good season past indeed.

My best to everyone. Enjoy your well deserved time off. This flat footed Florida girl had the time of her life this past April. The trip and stay was a 50th birthday present from my husband. It was amazing. We had not anticipated the snow and ice. It made for the most amazing scenery for this born and raised Florida girl. We have booked again and will see you next September .
