high 28, low 19. 1" snow. 28 inches on the ground, with drifts much higher. It's been very windy. I think we might get a break today, and then 60% chance of snow tonight. i'll be breaking trail some today hiking around, pictures tomorrow. Maybe Channel 6 news team will be hiking up for an interview later? Rainbow Falls is normally preferable over Bullhead this time of year because 1) Shorter Distance. 2) The Drifts on Bullhead can get very high.

Just wondering about something--where do people stay overnight when they hike up after the lodge is closed for winter?

Sandra- there is a three sided shelter that you can stay in on top of Mt. LeConte . You need a permit, which you can get from the Park service. The shelter is just a bunk. You have to bring a sleeping bag. There is not form of heat. You can get more information on the National Park Service website. Comments are closed.
