73 yesterday.
Ew. Luckily for us and the llamas cloud cover hung out during the heat of the day. Woke up this morning to 49 but it had already reached 54 by 6:30. ''Tis a sign for things to come today, unless we luck out with that predicted rain! 70% chance of rain tomorrow, definitely an umbrella day, and hopefully a lot cooler. Keep hydrated guys, electrolytes, the full deal, the heat and humidity takes a lot out of you. If you are not feeling well, dizzy, exhausted coming up there is no shame in turning back. You should be able to enjoy the mountain, not get stressed by it! Starting super early in the morning will help, starting after 9:00am is a lot warmer for sure so please keep that in mind. Happy Saturday!

The oppressive heat and humidity here in east central Kentucky has just about did me in this summer. To be up at the Lodge would certainly be wonderful right now. I have actually only been up there during the summer once or twice as I usually go either in mid Spring or mid Fall. As many readers of this site also state I really appreciate having this site to at least keep up with weather conditions which remind me always of the differences in down here in the lowlands and up on the mountain. The photos posted here are especially appreciated and enjoyed. Quite sadly for me, though, I am having to forego staying there this coming October, a prime time in which to be up there, because of some minor difficulties with time frames and scheduling and such. I really hate to have to cancel these plans. So be it. Nonetheless, I maintain my desire to visit the Lodge through this blog site. Good hiking to all.

Enjoyed my 2 nights up at the lodge. Thanks to all the staff for such a great time. Enjoyed sitting on my porch just chilling and all the trails. Can't wait for another trip up in the future.
