75! 75 was our high yesterday. 54 was the low and it is humid like you wouldn't believe. Ok, we're overreacting a bit, but we can absolutely tell it's hot down there. Luckily everyone who hiked up yesterday was pretty prepared, hydrated, and were excited to sit on the office porch before heading back down Woke up to fog and almost tripped on some fawns due to visibility issues. You know, typical mountain life. Rain in the forecast today through Wednesday, a little bit of umbrella season. A nice change for not having any precipitation the past few days. Us on crew devour books pretty quickly and are always looking for recommendations. We have the staples like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Bill Bryson and the like, and would love to know what you guys read!
Llamas tomorrow!

I moved from fiction and am trying to learn about US history to see how we got ourselves into this situation. Sometimes it seems like fiction.

John L, I think more along the lines of horror rather than fiction.

What are we reading? I'm reading Our Southern Highlanders by Horace Kephart. Written around 1915, it's a tad dated but still a good read.

The Monkshood is beautiful! Enjoyed the video of the bumblebee buzzing around. At least it looked like a bumblebee. I have a carpenter bee that lives in a bench on my front porch. They bore (sp) holes into the wood to make their home. They are solitary bees so there is only one. It resembles a bumblebee, but doesn't sting you like other bees. So, I just let it bee! Lol I hope this week will be cooler! Coming your way, but most likely won't be hiking up to the lodge until our October visit.

I met Zhanna about 5 years ago and she signed my book. Her son (Greg Dawson) now tells me she is no longer able to make public appearances. I learned of this book because my brother lived next door to Zhanna in Atlanta.
