It was time once again for our Halloween pumpkin carving contest. Every year the crew each takes a pumpkin and gets creative. The guests vote on the best one and the winner gets to sleep in one morning. I thought I would share the pumpkins with you. And the winner is......Alex's pumpkinIn case you are wondering who his pumpkin is supposed to be, I will tell you. Frank Herbert, the author of Dune. I would say it looks like Alex or Santa. You can use your imagination. Alex was up for the weekend. He is going to be the winter caretaker this winter. I told him he could sleep in this winter after he calls in the weather and writes his blog entry.
Yesterday was a great day to be on the mountain. It was warm in some spots. The high was 55 with a low of 34.

Alex ya you can sleep after daily picture!! and weather report.. Great job. I was sitting on my swing sat. looking at you. Amazing. We did a 24 hr trip. So tired, but worth it. Leaves were blowing off sat night covered the roads, much like snow. Great pumpkins.. Blessed day.

Great craft work on the pumpkins. The only things I know how to carve are a turkey and a watermellon. Stay warm, sounds like there's a big cooldown on the way. 11/1/2010 03:40:37 am
Love the beard on that pumpkin!

Who packed those pumpkins up to the lodge !? The llamas maybe ? I was there on Halloween in 2006 (I think) and enjoyed the contest.

So Allyson, is Alex the winetr caretaker alone the whole time he is up there? People can still hike to the Lodge but they just cant stay, or eat during the winter?

Alex's pumpkin, as always, is great. He always manages to do a little bit of a self portrait in his pumpkin art. They all look great!!! Comments are closed.
