Ahhh....Finally Above the Clouds

What an incredible way to wake up and enjoy my coffee. I will miss sunrises like these when we are down below. I was packing up some of our things yesterday, trying to get twelve years worth of stuff down the mountain has been interesting. I came across photos from our first few years at the lodge. It was great to be able to go back and remember some of the great crews we have worked with over the years. I am sure the next 5 months will bring back many stories of years past. Today, I am going to enjoy the beautiful weather we are experiencing. The sun is out and the sky is blue. It is going to be a stellar day for a hike up a mountain. Lace up those boots and come see us.

There has been some bear activity around the top of the mountain. Make sure you do not leave your pack unattended. We are stressing the importance of not leaving any thing on picnic tables or porches around the lodge. We don't want the bear to be tempted by any human food. With this being said, I ask you to not use the comment section as your own soap box. We are trying to educate people on the importance of keeping wildlife wild while at the same time enjoying this gem we call The Smokies.

I was up there last year and we had this same morning view - absolutely stunning and a great way to start the day indeed!

Hey guys. I saw the news story on you guys last night on the Knoxville TV station and the venture you are embarking on. Sounds like a fun thing to try with good potential. I wish you guys the best with it and hope you have lots of success. We'll keep an eye out for your creations.

We are sitting on our front porch under the clouds. We are having coffee and a delicious freshly baked bagel with Olde Virdens from the Farmers Market! Life is Good

My husband and son are on the way up today. I'm sure they will be excited to see the view from up there.

What a great time the family had on the hike up and stay at the lodge, so glad we could chat. Grandson sprinkled his Virden's red hot on his pizza and I said to him do you need to use it all on one pizza? He loved it. Thanks to the memories over the last 11 years of hiking to the top of the world. Maybe just maybe we can squeeze on more hike before you leave. You will do amazing things in the future. Loved seeing my friends Pat and Jeanie.
