You can’t know it, but you can be it, at ease in your own life. Lao Tsu
Morning y'all,

It is a seriously blustery morning up top. The high yesterday reached 42 degrees. The low was 29 degrees. It was 42 degrees and drizzling at 7am observation. The mountain received .20 inches of rain yesterday, starting at around 7pm. There is still some treacherous ice in shady areas of the trails, particularly on Alum and the Boulevard. It's sure to be a quiet day on the trails, enjoy the characteristic 'smoke' today!

Today is a perfect day for meandering. The shifting winds and never static fog create an air of mystery and dark promise.

"Mystery and dark promise" -- nice!

Great picture with the fog. It was shockingly cold here in south Texas recently. Almost made it to freezing for a few days, but that clearly doesn't compare with the weather on the mountain.

I like the black and white photos. Leconte Lodge is rustic and primitive, but the black/white photos remind us of the early days in the 1920's when it was new.

Ah yes... hiking in the pea soup fog is truly a unique experience worth savoring. The silence is nearly absolute, broken only by the rattling of backpacks and hiking poles. It is a wonderful treat to stop in one of these fogs and not only is the fog enveloping you, but so is the silence, and as JP said, Mystery and Dark Promise.

I fell in love, true love twice and it happened in the same place. Hiking Mt LeConte upon reaching the summit, I knew the man I was with and the mountain I was on were my true loves.
So "Yes", l loved once and the Love keeps coming!

I try to hike the mountain every year and this year I hiked it twice 😊
