Another Dose of Vitamin D

It was another perfect day on the mountain. The clouds rolled in and out. The high was 64º with a low of 49º. Please remember if you are coming up to spend the night, make sure you bring plenty of layers. It is a bit chilly sitting out on the rocks at Cliff Tops and watching the sun go down.

Someone asked where the helicopter pad is located. It is hard to explain on the blog. It is located to the east of the lodge in a little clearing that is close by. There is a path that leads to it, but it is tricky to find.

Morning to all, I for one, think it would be wonderful to be complacent in such a fine place as the lodge and the surrounding mountain top. There is so many little out of the way clearings to enjoy. Go to Goggle Earth and see the mountain top as the Ravens see it. This will give you a better idea of what trail to take to get to your little slice of Heaven. Have a great day.

I just wanted to comment to Kat - yes I have been there. My husband passed away several years ago from terminal cancer but on those times I needed that break, I left him in capable hands.
There was an interesting sitcom on the radio and I think we are all guilty of this. It spoke of cell phones and how we are allowing technology to take over our lives and interfer in what's truly important. The one that hit me the most was the comment about the child getting off the school bus and there was the parent giving a half a hug and the other hand on the cell texting away. Sad.
I'm thankful for those times that I do get away and leave the electronics behind. It allows our family to spend that quality time. Ok - people now you can shoot me.
Allyson - as always, I love this daily blog! It's my start to my day and gets me going.
Good day all!

You're right on it Susan b. I agree with you. This debate over cell phones and radios could go on for a lengthy amount of time without any final resolution. Yes, the gadgets are handy and useful, even convenient, but they can also become annoyances - - it's entirely up to each individual to monitor his/her use of one, and ideally it should be imperative that he/she does not infringe on the rights of others as I think all would agree. In the mountains, at the lodge, and on the trails I really don't want to hear one and I don't think that's asking for too much. Like you, I love this daily blog site and begin each morning on it, reading and/or posting; mostly I love reading the comments of others. G'day

Now that we have seen the secret helicopter pad, show us pictures of the secret sauna, day spa and tanning booth. Every Lodge has one, right?

The secret sauna is the stream not far away, the tanning booth is located near the helicopter pad (or down the trail on an outcrop) and the personal massage comes from anyone else you may be bringing up. :-)

I know its not allowed. But right now, I wish I had a helicopter that would fly me in from Michigan and drop me off at that landing pad.

But then you'd miss out on that wonderful hike up ! How about a Star Trek teletransporter to simply zap you up there !? Or, as I have considered, parachute in - - now, that'd be a first, eh !? {actually, I rather share your sentiments and desire.}

On some of the High Peaks in the Adirondacks, there are Summit Stewarts that educate and help hikers. They also remind people phones are not allowed in order to help keep the silence. While some sneak a call to let everyone know they made it, most respect the rule. Most of the higher peaks are bald which creates quite a scene on a busy day.

We hiked the Rainbow Falls trail on September 17th, 2013. Didn't realize there was a beautiful Lodge atop the mountain until we were half way up. It was a beautiful hike and we would LOVE to try it again and plan to stay in your lodge. We realize reservations will have to be made well in advance! While we were hiking though we talked to an older couple (maybe 70's) that were headed up there and have wondered if they made it. The lady was having a little bit of a struggle at the Rainbow Fall and we understand there was still a rough hike yet to go. Would love to know if they made it up! We were so amazed that they would try that and were so proud of them for attempting it. Sure pray they made it and were able to enjoy the beauty!

Most of the superior summits are unadorned which establishs fully a landscape on a tireless time.
