Another Painted Sky

"Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky." -Rabindranath Tagore

We have been blessed with some beautiful sunsets lately. I guess that is the gift from all of the rain we have been getting. The high yesterday was 64º with a low of 54º.

People are asking about hiker traffic on July 4th. It all depends on what day the 4th falls on. This year will be a long weekend for a lot of folks. I am sure we will have a higher volume of traffic up the mountain. I would not let it deter you from making the trip, part of the fun is meeting some really interesting people at the top.

Chris and I are getting ready to head down the mountain. We are going to hang out in Gatlinburg for a bit and work at the Gatlinburg Farmers Market. If you are in town, stop by and say hello.

I hope you all have a wonderful 4th where ever you decide to spend it. I am sure there will be some incredible firework displays around the country. Have a great weekend and happy hiking.

I can hardly wait to become part of that traffic - but will be DOWNhill on the 4th! This trip has been a long time coming for my wife and me, and we are bringing our three boys with us - the oldest celebrating his 10th birthday Thursday as we hike up! Can. Not. Wait!

Hiked up Saturday for my sisters 55th birthday. About a mile past Alum we ran into an older gentleman sitting on a rock with the days newspaper. He said he tries to bring up a daily paper whenever he can to the LeConte crew. He asked if we could take it for him.
Thrilled to meet the incredible Ron Valentine who has been hiking LeConte for the last 68 years. He will be 81 on his next birthday.
What a role model. Glad we could be of help.
