Evening storm clouds over the Tack House.
Hello! Another cloudy day for us up top. Yesterday's high was 55 and the low only fell to 44 last night. For the past few days we've been getting pretty consistent storms and yesterday was no exception. The first line of storms hit us right as the llamas were arriving safely, but not pleased to be here. There is nothing quite like a look of disdain from a wet llama...The overall rain fall yesterday was only .73, but the lighting, thunder and wind made it feel like much more! Today has been dry so far, the temperature almost at 50, but I can already hear the roll of distant thunder making it's way across the valley.  Pack for rain and be prepared for an adventurous ascent today! Don't worry, there will be hot chocolate waiting for you when you arrive!

That's right! Tim Line: The Man, The Legend shows the crew how to dish like a boss! He came up for a short visit and went down today.

I don't blame the llamas, working in the rain is not my favorite thing to do! Looks good up there. Would rather be up there than confined to this chair. Good day

Sorry to hear about your surgery, Norman. It's not fun aging, is it? Knee or Hip? Just keep moving, just keep moving! Headed up to the lodge on Friday and wonder how many more years I'll be doing this.

Thanks Elaine, was nether knee or hip. You are right, aging is no fun. Hope to be back in the woods in about 6 weeks! Enjoy your stay at the lodge! Keep going till you can't no more.

I wonder if Lisa knows that Tim is an excellent dishwasher.

I'd be more than willing to trek up the mountain in the rain w/ the llamas just to have an opportunity to work for & be a part of such an incredible place.

I love the p;ictures ,article and commets. I like any thing that is connected to Mt.Leconte.We are counting down until 4-25-15.Can't make it to the lodge but hope we get to see the llamas ,Crissy and Alan.We have been going to Grotto Falls the last two(2) times we were there but a tree was on the trail the first time and they had changed one of the days so cross your fingers we will get to see them this time.Looks like Tim has a Good Ole Mississippi guy helping with the dishes. He will make a good husband since he knows the art of house work.LOL

I went up and down LeConte many times with Tim in '77. His choice to stay was brilliant.

Hey John, nice to hear your virtual voice. If you ever make it down this way let me know and we'll take a nostalgic (and perhaps slower) hike up the mountain than in 1977

Yes, thanks so much for all the wonderful pics! We are heading up Friday and planning to take Alum Cave trail - it is still open, isn't it? I thought they were closing later this year during the week for repairs.

Alum's only closing Mon-Thurs starting in May. It'll be open Friday-Sunday all year.

Thank you! That's what we thought - we love that trail!

Seeing Tim washing dishes, or scrub toilets, or anything else that's necessary doesn't matter to him. He has always been a "hands on" general manager that would lead by example and that's a quality that's hard to come by anymore. Let's just say he's like me and some of the other folks that are still around - we're "old school" trained and the quality character trait took......

I hope the rain wasn't too bad today. Although after reading your posts, we did run out and grab my daughter a pair of rain pants before she left on her trip. So thanks for helping us get her prepared. She should be there with her scout troop this afternoon. Her name is Charlotte. She is the one with long blond hair and glasses. If you see her, please tell her her Mom and Dad said hi!

Ruthie, all of us, especially our Ruthie enjoyed meeting you and your experiencing your hospitality even if just for a short time. Hope to be back up soon.

Glad I wasn't the only one looking for an old woman riding a bicycle in the clouds!!! By the way, the 3rd picture caption, "Rainy Llamas", would make a great name for a bluegrass band.

Keep these posts coming! I am so excited to see the place. My boyfriend and I are driving down from Boston this weekend and are planning a hike on Monday.

MMMMM, no bakes at the mouth of the Mississippi River. They are great, but they taste better where, do I even need to say. Thanks for the recipe Ruthie.
