Good Afternoon,
We’ve been able to say this quite a bit in April. It’s another sunny day! A much different story from what our caretaker had to report this past winter where cloud cover seemed to dog the summit day in and day out. The mercury is close to reading 60° and it feels every bit like spring up top. It was nice to take those first steps through the cabin door this morning and not get blasted by another icy breeze. Visitors are getting a real treat for outdoor exploration today. The bees and flies have also seemed to escalate their activity around camp. Some of our first wildflowers of the season are blooming here on premises, with a few patches of spring beauties happily tracking the sun. We have a couple more warm days ahead, but winds are expected to whip a little faster as well. Any crew not busily selling shirts, baking cookies, or loading llamas today are outside enjoying this divine weather donning their running packs, swaying in a hammock with a good book, or hanging up that laundry to dry the old fashioned way. Have a great rest of the day.

Is there a road to Leconte. I love to hike but not sure I can make it the 11 miles. But I want to come there

There is no road, only trails. If you are able to book a stay in the lodge, or are a backpacker who might stay in the trail shelter, you could split the 11 miles over 2 days.
