Happy Saturday! Yesterday ended our warm streak as we stayed at 45 degrees for a majority of the day with 3.54 inches of rainfall over the past 24 hours. Needless to say, the stairs to the dining room looked like a raging river. Overnight, the snow started at around 11:00 and as of now, we have received 1.5 inches of snow. Our low last night was 23 degrees and it continues to drop throughout the early hours this morning. We aren’t expected to warm up much today so if you plan to summit, bundle up and don’t forget those traction devices! 441 (Newfound Gap Road) remains closed currently and we have received reports of flooding on Rainbow Falls Trail from our guests that arrived last night. We strongly recommend that if you are planning to reach the lodge today, use Bull Head or Trillium Gap trails. If you do wish to use Trillium Gap, Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail remains closed so you will need to park at the Rainbow Falls trailhead and walk the two mile connector trail, or along the road, to the Trillium Gap trailhead. The hot chocolate and coffee are ready and our heaters are on full blast ready for you to reach the top. We hope you have a fantastic day and that you get the chance to hike up to see us today! Sunrise is peeking through the clouds on this beautiful morning.
