Frosty April morning.
Good morning to you all! And a chilly morning at that. Yesterday's high was 50 and the low dipped overnight to a frosty 28. Currently, it is only 29 on the mountain and there is still frost on the trees, but the sun is trying very hard to fight back the clouds and warm us up. The weather is supposed to be fair today, chilly but clear, so pack warm!

Just a reminder that the Alum Cave trail will be closing in two weeks on May 4. For more information about the trail restoration and availability here is a link!

A cool day on LeConte is far better than a warm day at work in the office!

You guys are so funny! Gave me a good laugh! Those were the good old days when we watched cartoon characters like Yogi and Boo Boo as kids. Now it's like "what's a cartoon"? Love the picture of the rain storm.

Tammy, was that the time we called 'the good old days', when people had morals!? I can remember them. Be 4 we turned from God!

ahhh, the good ole days.... i remember them - faintly.

The alleged “good old days” weren't quite so good for those who found themselves outside the mainstream. While I have many issues with our current culture, I believe it's a much better world in terms of tolerance and acceptance. But we still have a long way to go.

I think you missed what I was trying to say, Norman. But it's not really the place to get into such a discussion anyway, so I won't say any more on the subject. Peace.

Was looking forward to seeing a new post and pic today (well actually it's tomorrow now). I read these so late anyway! Just wanted to let you guys know that your Yogi and Boo Boo comments we're still making me laugh tonight! I told my husband about them and it made him laugh too. I don't know why it got me so cracked up...I guess it's because ya'll are always just commenting on hiking, conditions, preparedness etc and then here ya'll were having a conversation about Yogi Bear and Boo Boo! I needed that laugh! Been a little rough the past few weeks.

Tammy you cheer up! I missed hiking and staying at the top due to a temporary health condition but I am looking forward to heading up the end of August. As for Yogi and Boo Boo, I was Boo Boo years ago while Yogi took me around his yard and showed me some of his engineering marvels! Anyway I had a good laugh as I walked down memory lane, Thanks to all of you for calling it out!

I decided to check the blog a little earlier today because I just wanted to say finding this blog and all who contribute to it and comment on it has been a blessing...God sent. I wasn't going to say but I have systemic lupus (SLE). With this illness I don't know what to expect from day to day, that's why I can't make a reservation at the lodge in advance. I just hike up the trails as far as I feel I can and then just turn around. But....my wonderful husband is determined to help me make it to the top later this year and I'm determined to try. That's why I appreciate all the hiking advice by ya'll and the crew. I'm taking it all in. Ok, enough about me....as my sister in law always said...it's all good! I really hope to meet some of you guys on the trails! Everyone have a blessed day!
