Just like that we’ve reached the end of April and are already a third of the way through the calendar year. Time is flying by as fast as the winds soaring over the mountain. Conditions were quite breezy yesterday as predicted, and the top was smothered in cloud cover much of the day. The rains seemed to have stayed north for a while until late in the evening. Expect wet trails underfoot at least today and for breezy conditions to persist, although not as strong.
Temps have cooled a bit, so we’re back into the upper 30s this morning with chance to break into the 50s this afternoon. Aside from the winds, skies should continue to improve giving way to a mostly pleasant weekend. Saturday should be sunny and warm, although not as hot as recent days. Come late Sunday there is a chance for thunderstorms to return. With such a decent weekend forecast, expect the Park and its most popular trails to be busy with hikers and eager adventurers. So start early if you want a paved parking spot, pack the patience, and consider some of the lesser sought-after trails accessing the lodge of solitude sounds more desirable.
