Good Morning,
In the lowlands spring is springing, but up top we’re still as wintry cool as ever after dipping into the 20s again last night. We should soar into the mid 50s this afternoon thankfully in what will likely be the last full-on sunny day until the end of the week. You read that correctly…we’re staring directly into a week full of intermittent clouds, winds, rain showers, and maybe even some snow. Spring is a beautiful time of year in the Smokies, but the drastic temperature swings can mess with people, especially now that we’re getting into pollen season. Be sure and take whatever precautions you need to stay happy and healthy when spending extended time out in these conditions. As previously mentioned, now that we’ve entered April and are creeping closer to the Easter holiday, the Smokies and its gateway communities are going to become bustling beehives of activity. So expect plenty of traffic congestion in and around the nation’s most visited national park. Pigeon Forge is also hosting its annual spring Rod Run this coming weekend, so travelers will need to account for that as well when planning their routes to and from Mt. LeConte’s trailheads. Have a great day.
