A very overcast, misty day let the sun break through a few times, making the supposed 62 degrees seem more chilly than expected. An overnight low of 44 (warm!) was also surprising. Oh yeah, and we saw a bear near the Cliff Tops/Myrtle Point junction. Just so you know. Today looks promising on the sunny standpoint, plus it's llama day!
Remember to leave room around them in the Trillium parking lot. Let us know if you see any bears hiking up today! I was asked why the old Gatlinburg Inn in town was my favorite, so I wrote about it on my site. But since 2004 Leconte Lodge has assumed the top spot on my list of favorite places in and around the Smokies. It's the atmosphere I experience when up there on the mountain ! When I walk into the dining room for evening dinner I venture into another world essentially. When I'm there it's my favorite time, and breakfast is likewise very pleasant. Whenever I'm "down in the valleys" hiking and camping the Lodge is never far from my mind and I'm constantly dreaming of ways to return for another visit, and being in my favorite cabin as well. I'm sure others have the same feelings about the place as I do. G'day

Of course they hike. How else would Yogi and Boo-boo get to the picnic baskets in Jellystone Park :-)

How foolish of me. I should have known better. Elktonbrant, when do you turn six? 😉

I've got the giggles again! Elktonbrant, are you one of the guys who were discussing Yogi taking Boo Boo to the ER (or vice versa) last year on here? I know Kent was. You guys had me giggling all day long every time I thought about your conversation and into the next day! I love Yogi and Boo Boo! Probably my favorite cartoon characters growing up!
