The weather has been great. Yesterday's high was only 71 with a low of 56. It has been some nice cool weather up top.
Don't forget to check out the LeConte forum page. It is a great place to trade all of your LeConte information and stories.
We had an special visit from the llamas today. They brought more t-shirts so that you could get your famous LeConte t-shirt when you hike up the mountain. Rex is just taking a little nap while waiting for pancakes and biscuits.
It got pretty chilly last night. The low was 46. The high yesterday was 67 degrees. I run by this blow down everyday. It always amazes me to see the what grows out of the tree roots. It makes me think of a friend of mine who used to tell her son that hobbits lived in there. Now, at the age of 40, I find myself looking for the hobbits.
Another cool day on the mountain. There was an afternoon rain shower that cooled everything down. It has been quit pleasant. I love standing next to the cone flowers and listening to the buzz of the bees. It is a very soothing sound. It was another warm day up top. The high reached 76 degrees. It looks like we are in for more of the same.
I would like to let everyone know about a feature we added to the blog. We added a discussion page. This should give people a chance to share with one another advice to help make everyones trip a better experience. If you have any questions about trail advice or what to pack up the mountain, this would be a great place to post those questions. The clouds parted and left us with an amazing end to the day. The sunset was fabulous. It is amazing how this mountain makes you stop and enjoy the simple things in life. The high yesterday was a cool 69 degrees. I hope all of you Knoxville folks get out of town today and enjoy the Smokies. I hear it is going to hit 109 with the heat index. That makes me sweat just thinking about it. It was another awesome day on the mountain. The high never got above 69. The clouds rolled in and out but it never rained. We are enjoying the final days of summer on the mountain. It won't be long before the sound of kids running around and playing hide and seek will only be on the weekends. It is time to start watching for blackberries and blueberries to be in abundance. Look for them as you come up the trails. They should be ripe in the higher elevations.
Today is the day!! Woody gets to go home to the farm. He is doing great. He has had a wonderful time at the LeConte llama spa. I just hope he does not tell all of his buddies what great service he received. We could have a problem on our hands. He has been the star of the mountain for the past week. I know the crew is going to miss him dearly, but it is time for Woody to get to hang out with his friends at the farm.
Yesterday reached 71 degrees on the mountain. It was partly cloudy and fairly cool. Looks like the same today. It is another foggy day on the mountain. The high yesterday was 72. We had a good rain storm hit around noon. Looks like more of the same for today.
