Good Afternoon,
What a gorgeous September Sunday high above the Smokies. We started out clearer this morning, but the white puffs in the sky continue to grow and multiply. We’ll see how the weather shakes out throughout the day, by there remains that possibility for some precip. Yesterday’s high temp was 65 degrees followed by a low of 50. We received some more rain during the period, amounting to 0.2”. We’re spending time in the low 60’s currently. Visitor traffic hasn’t been as rambunctious like the last few months. It’s obvious, even on the mountain, that school is back in session. If you prefer smaller crowds on the trails to LeConte, this is a great time to get outdoors. As we all know, that will all change in a few weeks! Have a great day!

Good Afternoon,
It’s shaping up to be another summer-like Saturday on the mountain. We’ve been going back and forth with the rain and clouds, with plenty of rolling thunder echoing across East Tennessee. Yesterday’s high temp hit a toasty 70 degrees, and our low was 51. The peak managed to tally 0.1” of rainfall. Temps today have been hanging out in the 60’s. The extended forecast is looking like more of the same. We’re keeping an eye on Hurricane Florence as there is a strong possibility it will have an effect on the weather in these parts next week. Stay tuned to the blog for updates as it draws nearer. Have a great weekend! Some photos sent by the Lodge. The high yesterday was 69 and low was 52. Rain was .65 inches most of it late afternoon and evening.
More scattered afternoon/evening rain and thunderstorms are predicted for the weekend so come prepared. The Lodge will have the hot chocolate and coffee ready in the dining room from noon to 5:00 pm. Unless we have an unforeseen situation, the llamas should be packing tomorrow, Sunday and Wednesday and then Friday. We will try to keep you posted but last minute changes can occur. Happy Hiking Good Afternoon, It’s been another gorgeous September day high above the Smokies! Yesterday’s high temperature came in at 68 degrees, and our low was 57. There was no precipitation for a change, and current conditions are partly cloudy with temps in the lower 60s. If you are looking to visit the mountain these next two weekends, accessing the park from the TN side in particular, please be aware of the upcoming high congestion events taking place in Sevier County. The Shades of the Past Hot Rod Roundup (9/7-9/8) and then the Fall Rod Run (9/13-9/15) will sure to be slowing things down through Pigeon Forge. Plan your routes and travel times accordingly to avoid the traffic congestion.
Circumstances have us changing up the llama schedule this week, as can always happen. We’ll look to see our favorite fuzzy friends this Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. Have a great day! Good afternoon, The advertisements, media, and first days of classes may all speak of summer’s end yesterday, but you wouldn’t know it from stepping outside. From the looks of it, we still have plenty of summer ahead of us yet. The extended forecast will continue to be much like it has been. Hot and muggy down low, mild up top, with chances of afternoon thunderstorms everyday. We’re excited about the prospect of fall like anyone else, but in the meantime, best to come to the mountain ready for more of the same. Labor Day’s high temp registered in at 67 degrees, with a low of 55. We’ve been hanging out in the 60s again today. Rainfall amounted to 0.4” in the old gauge. These intermittent storm cells do have their plus side, often spoiling us with superb sunsets and supper time rainbows. A just reward for our guests who happen to get caught in nature’s fury as they ascend the mountain. Llamas are slated for Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday trips. Have a great start to September!
Good morning!

Yesterday, our high was a warm 69 degrees while our overnight low only hit 51 degrees Andrew NO RAIN!! Currently, we are already at 55 degrees and rising quickly. Again, just like many days this time of year, we are predicted to have scattered storms this afternoon beginning around 3pm. Until then, we hope you enjoy this beautiful Sunday with us! |
