Every time I see the photos posted here showing how the Lodge grounds look it causes me to imagine how the place appeared hundreds of years ago. It's interesting to think about, but I didn't want to take up a lot of room on here writing about it, but I did write about it on my own site. The photos posted speak for themselves every day !

Another beautiful picture of the cone flowers! Enjoyed reading your narrative, Doug. I would like to believe that Jack Huff's reason for establishing the lodge (other than for profit) would be for the same reasons you and I have had discussion about recently. The pure exhilarating, joyful, even spiritual feeling of being on top of high mountain peaks with amazing views of the world around and below you. The beauty of experiencing the world and nature all around you in all it's grandeur. The feeling that "yes, I have arrived"! HAGD

to paraphrase something i saw the other day: 'i have finally fallen into the place i seek'. kinda what it feels like up top on a bright sunny day - or a misty foggy day. any day for that matter - like tomorrow...
