Good Afternoon,
Oh glorious sunshine, so good to have you back. What a nice treat to wake up to clear skies and bright light to start this last week of August. A bit of haze on the horizon as the sun gains some height, and clouds will slowly cluster as the day rolls on, but no real threat of rain today. Or the next few days for that matter. Still plenty of water flowing down the mountainside though with this summer having produced adequate precip and then some. Going to be a toasty few days down in the valley, but the summit beckons with cooler temps. Currently in the mid 60s, with overnight lows in the mid 50s expected. Summer isn’t giving up on us yet, as we could tap 70° at some point this week too. Schools continue to resume session across the country, but still plenty of folks flocking to the Smokies. If you’re inspired to make an early start up the trail, don’t forget a headlamp. Sunrise is at 7:00 AM these days, and in those wooded creekside walks, the dark holds on a little longer. Have a great day.
