The crew sat on the back porch and enjoyed the beautiful display of color. It was a tranquil moment in time that reminded me why this mountain is so special. We had a good day yesterday. The sun was shining and the snow was melting off of the roofs of the cabins. We did see some snow melt. The heat of the day melted about 5". The snow has turned to a slushy mess. You will want some sort of ice walker for your journey up the mountain. It is possible to make the hike without them, they will make your journey more pleasant and much safer. The high was 49º with a low of 41º. It is currently 42º and the sun is coming up over the mountain top.

coming up saturday to cash in birthday present my daughter gave me - 1 night at the lodge. would like to put in my order for these skies to remain through the wekend...

AWESOME....that is the only way to explain my hike to the top today. I ended wet and covered in mud, but oh how I loved every minute of it !!! I did get two shirts and a hoodie. They are even nicer than last year I think...love them! Everyone up top was so sweet and took time to welcome the first hikers of the day (myself and Miss Sandra who was right behind me!). Thank you all ! Cliff Tops was amazing this morning and I took my new friend up there and spent a moment enjoying the beauty. I passed more than 30 DAY HIKERS going to the top today (gorgeous outside) and about 10 that were staying overnight. Hope everyone had as nice of a hike as I did. Thanks to Allison and Chris for letting me get my shirts early so that I could make it down in time for school buses!!!! See you all NEXT month!!!
