We could not have asked for a more opposite morning than yesterday's. It was one of the most gorgeous sunrises I've seen up here. I was hoping last night the skies would stay clear for a chance at an award-winning sunrise. We've been living in the clouds for seemingly weeks and could really use the light! The best surprise I got today was finding a doe and her petite fawn strolling through camp. Some guests said they saw two fawns, but I was only able to capture a photo of the one. After the morning storms yesterday, the skies cleared and offered a nice view of the valley. There were moments of sunshine mixed in later in the day with the clouds. It was a warm day, reaching 72, but not nearly as hot as the valley. There have been heat advisories throughout the state. Please make sure to drink plenty of water if you are going to be outside!

Beautiful sunrise! I have a daughter and a granddaughter with you this afternoon and tonight. They are part of a group from Nashville. Wish I was with them. One of the group is making his 45th annual over-night visit! Thanks for your pictures and comments. Jack

On our way down from a day hike with my friend Bud, we saw a doe with a fawn following a man and his daughter. I wonder if it was the ame deer?

Thanks to all the staff for another wonderful stay at the lodge. My daughter-in-law and granddaughter made their first trip up with me and enjoyed their stay. The very large bear we came across coming up Trillium Gap Trail gave us a little scare, but by doing the right things, making noise and backing away slowly, we were able to finish the hike and live to tell about it. Thanks again, hope to see you all next year! And thanks for all the GREAT photos!! Comments are closed.
