Big Rock Candy Mntn.

High 50, Low 25.

Warm Day! Down to about a foot of snow up here now. I'll be hiking down alum and back today with some stuff. Looks to be pretty warm all week.
S-Benz is annoyed I haven't thrown any caught mice for him this morning, he's outside yelling at me.
Will be a nice day for a walk, there still is ice out there, watch out.
It's nice to hear you all so frustrated by the throwing of trash in the park, also.
Glad y'all are getting out and enjoying the weather, here in about a week I'll be spending some nights either in the Pisgah or Big South Fork. Hopin' I don't miss all this nice weather.
As for the trail system that i'll be taking:
from Fontainebleu the GR 13 to GR 3 to GR 65. Thats the plan for france, The GR65 is what's also known as one of the beginnings of the Chemins de Saint-Jacques, Starting at Le Puy and ending in Santiago De Compostela, And That's where I'll be ending trail. Then making my way towards Valencia for a huge music festival :).

Thanks for all the posts and pictures. Incredibly helpful in planning hikes. Glad the weather is great. Headed near your area this weekend for an overnight hike. May even take in a little night hiking/views myself if it stays clear for Saturday night. Maybe can leave the crampons at home?

Pics are awesome! I gazed up at the moon last night here in central Indiana and it is nearly full..think it will be tonight. I'll bet there will be awesome pics from it tonight and the sunset also if it is as clear as it was last night. 52 here today and sunshine so looking forward to enjoying that even on flatland. Thanks for posting your France/Spain hike. I've been to Germany and seen many, many people walking their roadside trails. Hope you plan on keeping a blog so that we can see what the "trails" look like in Europe. Appreciate all you've done this winter...keeps LeConte alive for me until I can get up there in September. When's your last day on LeConte. My daughter worked up there on the '96 crew and I was thinking things started happening around the middle of March or is it the 1st of March?

Hey Alex,

Have you ever used a Spot 2 gps tracking device while hiking?

I was wondering if you know what the total snowfall amount has been since you been up top?

I also am curious when your last day will be and I am also curious about your hiking through Europe. Will you be alone or going with friends? I'm hoping the latter, I don't like to think of anyone hiking without a partner..you know, just in case.

I was wondering is the trail from Alum cave packed snow? I want to hike it Fri with low cut shoes and no gaiters-- but I can buy some gaiters if the snow is not packed or melted. Thanks so much for all the updates it really helps with planning the hikes : )
