Finally some wonderful weather atop this beautiful rock. Yesterday became one of the nicest days in a while and today is turning out to be twice as nice! Even though yesterday was only 34 degrees, the sun helped to really make us feel warmer. Over night it only got down to 26. With the bad weather moving out, "we" were able to give the guests a nice sunset. Here's the view from dining room porch! It sure has been a wonderful weekend!  This was the best part of my morning...

Great pictures, Meredith! We've had a great last 2 days too here in Indiana, even though a little windy today...68 degrees and sun. Coming down to G-burg mid-May.Unfortunately the 6 ladies I come down with can't hike up to LeConte so I'll have to wait until my regular scheduled trip in September. I SOOOO miss it! Got to hike up on Sunday, and it was a beautiful day. Experienced winter cold to start, some snow on the trail, lots of sunshine, and warm temperatures on the way down. AND got to see a mini-airlift whilst I was up there. Click on my name to go to my gallery of pictures.

What fees, if any, are charged to people requiring an airlift?

Tomk- that would be a question for the park service. I am not really sure what the patient pays. We just try to get people off the mountain as safe as possible when an accident happens.

I made my first trek to this picturesque mountain on Saturday. I can't imagine a more beautiful two days. The sunset, sunrise, blue skies,starry night, and snow made it perfect. I can't wait to visit again. Thanks for a wonderful time. The staff was great. Have you received an update from the lady who had to be air lifted on Sunday morning? Hoping that she is ok.
