Brad stocking!

5/6/2015

Hello down there!  Brian here blogging from the highest kitchen east of The Rockies.  Just another routine day up in the kitchen.  Brad is stocking, getting ready for another round of guests.  The weather has just been fantastic.  Despite yesterday's passing showers, this week has been dry.  Yesterday's high reached 58 degrees, and the low dropped to 39.   We received .20 inches of rain.  It is currently 59 degrees, and partly cloudy.  Have a beautiful day!  Peace

This would've been the night I was going to stay. But decided to cancel. I was up last week May 1st though on a cold snowy but still awesome day to visit. I planned on waking up on my 50th birthday tomorrow in one of the cabins. Too much going on. Sure am glad I got down there last week though. Kitchen looks just awesome!! Oh, and I got my t-shirt last week, so I am good to go. Keep up the good work!

My birthday wishes to you, Debi -- and also my condolences. Turned 50 a couple of years ago, and well...it's wasn't a good time.

P.S. Nahh, I'm just kidding! 50 is great!

I was wondering if tourist traffic had increased to any significant level at the Rainbow Falls / Bullhead / Trillium trailheads with the intermittent closing of the Alum trail. Just idle speculation that as many tourists never venture off the main paved roads, such as Rt 441, many if them may not go to these other trailheads, etc. Just curious. My next visit to the Lodge will be up the Trillium trail, my favorite. I took Alum four weeks ago which was my first real test of my ":new knee"; I commented on this trip in my own site.
Debi: Don't some say that: "it's nifty to be fifty" !?
Good hiking to all.

Doug, I hope you see this. I read your new post on your blog. I'd like to see the pictures of your hike to Leconte too. I really think I would rather hike up Trillium to the top later this year. I think it will be less crowded and a physically easier hike for me. Interested in your input. Two more things....about a month ago, I had to take my first hefty dose of prednisone...within a couple of days I started getting cramps in both feet, both legs, at the same time...I assumed the prednisone may have been wiping out my potassium (have had problems with that before)...started back on my potassium and it has helped...just a thought. Second thing, I had to laugh, I'm one of those that would rather be hiking in my flip flops! In October of 2013, I was staying at a lodge in Gatlinburg and the bldg I was in caught on fire...I lost just about everything (including my rental SUV) and my favorite and broken in pair of hiking shoes! I don't know how many pair of hiking shoes I have bought since, but when I was hiking back down from Alum Cave Bluffs this past trip, I was complaining to my husband that I was just going to hike in my flip flops! At least they didn't hurt my feet!! HAGD today!
