but i feel nothing for that game, where beauty goes unrecognized. all i feel is heat and flame and all i see are dark eyes.

There is something in staying close to men and woman and looking on them, and in the contact and odor of them, that pleases the soul well, All things please the soul, but these please the soul well. Whitman
Morning y'all,

It is another beautiful, snowy day up top. The high yesterday reached 35 degrees. The overnight low dipped down to 10 degrees. It is currently 10 degrees and lightly snowing. The mountain received 6 inches of new snow. We had some melt yesterday, so the total is at around a foot. It's sure to be a slog on the trails. It took me about time and a half to cover my usual distance heading uphill yesterday, for every step forward you seem to slide one step back. If you intend to get out, be prepared to move slow! I'd recommend wool socks, waterproof shoes, gaiters, snow pants and a positive attitude. Enjoy!!

Jay, thanks for remindingme of that quote. It reminds me of my father and him throwing away well worn articles of clothing that were particular to him and being sad because I had come to feel that they were so much a part of him. He lived to 90 y.o.

Hey Norman, have you forgotten my trail name !? "Slowwalker" No, I've come to that age where getting into a rush is not desirable, pleasant, nor necessary. I'll leave that life style to the younger generation. Looks like you survived all that weather in your area; I was wondering how you were affected, being that you live just above Atlanta.
I posted some day hike suggestions on my web site for a few people who asked me about day hikes; these are only my personal favorites, but I have many; There's naturally many different opinions and suggestions for such hiking and for trail maps as well; Variety makes it all interesting. g'day

Yeah, it was short because I woke up early fighting the flu. However, three or four tablespoons of my old-fashioned cold remedy "nipped it in the bud" !! The remedy has a simple recipe: 50% honey - - 50% moonshine !! A wee bit of rock candy or fruit for extra flavor sometimes. I feel goooood now !

doug y, you may not be aware, but your cold remedy taken daily in moderation will prevent cold, flu, gout, anemia jungle rot and many more ailments known to man. the rock candy and fruit may be omitted. it is optional.

Yes, RJnLA, that remedy packs a punch ! On rare occasions I've "sipped a wee bit of " ' shine ' " straight, but I have to make sure my shoes are nailed to the floor first ! I mix the remedy up about every year and a half, and if I have any 'shine left over, I can put about a tablespoon of it in my lawn mower when I first start it up in the spring it fires right up !! As for those suggestions for a few day hikes I made on my site, they can be found on almost any decent trail map, and the Sugarlands visitor gift shop is where I obtain most of my material related to the Smokies, and I would guess that the NOC store would have as many if not more selections.
Norman: Yes, the Abrams Falls Trail is a nice one; gentle grades and such; relatively easy by most accounts.
