Cleaning Day

3/16/2014

Picture
It is a nasty mess outside. I guess it is a great day to be inside scrubbing the kitchen. The crew has donned their face masks and claimed their cleaning aids and are hard at work making the kitchen sparkly clean.

It is currently raining/snowing. The snow on the ground is now a sloppy, slippery mess. If you are hiking in this weather, please be extremely careful. The current temperature is 32º. The high yesterday was 46º.

We are scheduled to begin our airlift tomorrow. That all depends on the weather. It must be clear for us to fly. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the weather forecast for tomorrow is incorrect and it will be sunny and beautiful.

Nicholette and Rachel are super excited to start scrubbing the kitchen.

Sure wish I had the energy to Spring clean my house! Welcome back to Allyson and Chris (even if only for the season) and to all the returning crew members as well as the new crew members. So looking forward to hearing about life on "the" mountain this season as well as the hiking/Smokies/LeConte comments from those that follow this blog.

Glad y'all made it safely up top. Lightly raining here in Cosby, but not surprised you are getting wintry weather. I think I know where the next phase of living will take the Virdens, but I will not tell.
To anyone spending the night at LeConte, if you can afford the cost, two nights is soooo much better. You can spend a sunny second day at Myrtle Point, watch the llamas unload, eat biscuits, and load up again. Sit on the deck, work the jigsaw puzzle, read, drink bottomless cups of hot chocolate, coffee (yummy mixed together too) or lemonade. Make the most of the beauty up there, it is a spiritual experience.

I agree with Mary Anne...2 nights on the mountain! We are planning on 3 nights for our next trip! So much we haven't seen up there and the peace and quiet is wonderful!
