Cold, cold, cold.

12/14/2010

Hi,  Alex is on days off, so the relief has called the temps down to the reservation office. The high yesterday was -5 and the low -9. It was -8 at about 8:30 this morning. He had 5 inches of fresh snow yesterday for a total of 21 inches.  Hwy 441, Newfound Gap Road is closed due to snow and ice.  Cherokee Orchard Road is open. You can call 865-436-1200 to check on road closures in the Park.

Who all was saying they wanted Alex's job now? Not me for sure. I certainly wouldn't want to be on the mountain in that cold -not even for a day. Hope the relief stays warm and good luck keeping anything unfrozen in those temps. =D

What are the chances that 441 will be open by Friday? Just curious.

I am so homesick for the mountains it's not even funny. This blog's pictures were "just what the doctor ordered"! Ahhhhh. Thank you, thank you! But now I really can't wait another day to get there (:
Enjoyed reading the blog, too.

Not I! Nope. Negative temperatures? Heck, I didn't even want to get out of bed in the, what seems like balmy now, 20 degrees it was this morning in Atlanta.

Hope Alex is enjoying his days off. Thanks for the update!
