Cold Morning

7/16/2011

Picture
After a chilly 50 degrees last night, we awoke to fog and rain. It is a cold morning on the top. I am officially giving mother nature permission to take our rain and give it to the areas in the country that are suffering from a drought.

We are one day away from our half way point. Mid season is tomorrow. Chris starts his countdown and the season will come to an end before we know it. That also means that the warm temps move out and the snow moves in. Time flies on the mountain.

Good morning, Allyson. We have had unseasonably cool temps these last couple of days--nice relief from the extreme summer heat we have been having here in South Carolina.

Haven't read much about bear sitings this year--I guess you did a good job scaring them off last year! Or maybe they are just waiting for berry-picking time up top!

Hope you and your staff have a blessed day!

Good Heavens! It seems as if you just got there!

I enjoy starting my day in the hot and dry NC Piedmont reading your posts and gazing longingly at your wonderful pix of juicy cool greenery.

It was cool in the mountains of NC too, and a little rainy, but we need it. So when exactly is the last day of the season anyway?

50 Degrees! Ahhhh, that sounds wonderful. In Texas it has been so hot. Over 22 days of one hundred degrees or more temps. It's really getting old. Y'all enjoy your time on the top. Thank you for pictures, and letting us flat landers know what we are missing. Stay safe. And please send any rain you don't want our way. We are in a drought too.

It was nice for 3 days here in central Indiana and then turned to 90 degrees today and supposed to be no relief in site for a few days..into next week. Oh, to be on LeConte in the fog and cooler temps with a good book! Can't wait until September 12!

We enjoyed our one night up there last night but are already looking forward to next time and to hopefully see a beautiful sunset/sunrise. Those clouds were so thick almost our entire stay. Thanks so much for all the hospitality.

Thanks for the rain Allyson....we got a much needed steady slow rain (about an inch & a half) here in south Mississippi. Still can use more.
