Cold Temperatures For May

5/13/2013

Picture
The sun has come back to stay for a little while. It was great seeing that giant orb in the sky. The only downfall is that it still feels like winter. The high yesterday was 42º with a low last night of 22º. Posters asking about temperatures on the mountain, all I can suggest is bring a lot of layers. Make sure you have a hat and gloves for the evening. Hopefully, the temperatures will warm up over the next few days, but one never knows on Mt. LeConte. I will take the sun however I can get it.

I always bring a hat, doesn't matter what time of the year it is. Heck, I wear a stocking hat on summer nights in Michigan sometimes. You can see today, that's a good thing. Hope it stays clear for you.

Well my stay up top saturday night was bitter sweet. I got the chance to bring my dad and uncle up but at the same time, my oldest son got sick and could not make the trip with us. It cleared up just in time sunday for the first timers to see the grand views off of bullhead trail. Had a wonderful time getting to listen to the adventures of Bethany as she was preparing the dining hall. As always, Mt Leconte did not disappoint.

At pawpaw....it will be my husband and I, and our 4 children (ages 5 1/2, 4, 2 1/2, and 11 months). All girls. Lol. My hubby will be toting the baby on front and the 4 yr old (some of the time) in his backpack. I will be toting the 2yr old in my pack and the 5 yr old will be walking. 2 adults, 6 children, yes, we may be insane. Wish us luck! It's been almost 7 yrs since our last back country adventure, and our first one with the girls. Hoping out backs hold out!

Acre, sounds like you need a couple of Lamas. Good luck and enjoy your hike.
