Construction Coming to an End

7/14/2014

And we have flowers...... The purple monks hood is finally blooming. That means the cone flowers and bee balm are right around the corner. Yesterday felt like a real summer day on the mountain. The high was 71º with a low of 49º. The construction crew had such great weather they were able to get everything done a week early. They are cleaning up as I type and getting ready to head off the mountain. We apologize for any inconvenience the work might have caused, but I am sure you can understand that even rustic lodges have to be worked on every now and again. It looks like the crew might have finished just in time. The skies are gray and it looks like rain in our near future.

Glad construction has come to an end for you all. My bee balm and cone flowers are blooming now. Unfortunately I don't have any monks hood..may have to pursue getting some to try in my garden next year to brighten it up and bring the mountain a little closer when I'm not there.

Wish i could get(be) there!!! Was introduced to LeConte by a friend at that time that had standing resevations years ago. That all ended when he left his wife and grown kids of 44 yrs for another women. Only been back one time with my son and brother-in-law, stayed in the shelter then. Long to return with my wife, but due to sercomestances i can't. Enjoy, you that can! PS over look the spelling, can't spell worth a s---.

As promised Dwight and I did my first up and back Friday. Sorry, we missed you but your crew was very busy and friendly. I met a ranger on the porch who told me he came up every week and I was surprised that in 9 times up the mountain I had never seen him. The construction crew was impressive drilling through logs with a vengeance.
We also met unprepared hikers all the way down the mountain. It was a little scary.

Hope to see you on the mountain sometime. Warren and Dwight
