Cool and Windy

It's a "hold on to your hat" kind of day. The wind is howling and there is a chill in the air. The clouds are rolling through. I can see sunshine below in the valley. There is still hope for a beautiful day up top. Yesterday was a jam packed day on the top. A lot of day hikers out and about. The high was 60 with a low of 45. The mountain ash trees are giving the mountain a little color. I will try and capture a better picture today. Between the orange leaves and bright red berries, it is gorgeous display of color.

Is there a visitor log book up there for day hikers? If so how many day hikers did you have yesterday?

I signed log sheet at the office where t-shirts are sold.

If there was a visitor log for day hikers, it would be two feet thick and you'd already be into volume IV just for 2011. LeConte is a fabulous place, but it is crowded.

Audi,
We do have a log in sheet. Day hikers and over night guests sign it. I would not know how to tell the difference. I do know there were 20 boyscouts on the trail. They were getting their 20 mile hiking badge. They hiked up Alum, out Boulevard, back to the lodge, and down Alum.
