I came across a patch of grass-of-parnassus while hiking a little bit of the Boulevard yesterday. I know I already shared one picture of this amazing flower, but it takes my breath away everytime I see it. If you get a chance to see it while hiking up the mountain, stop and take a moment to enjoy its beauty. It is not a common flower to be found in this part of the United States. You will mostly find them in the northern part of the country.
Yesterday was another cool day. The high was 63 with a low of 47. The llamas made an extra trip up the mountain to deliver bring us more supplies. I know they appreciated the temperatures cooling off a little. 9/3/2012 09:32:40 pm

That flower / bloom to me is one of the prettiest in the Park. I sometimes use it as my desktop background. It's finally gotten somewhat cooler here in central KY and it really makes me want to come to the lodge, or at least do some hiking, which I will. Doug, No I didn't. I actually had it in my hand at the NOC at the end of the strip in Gatlinburg. But decided to wing it. When Allyson puts flowers on I always put them on my desktop also. It helps me remember the flower when I see it. I also seen and took a picture of the blue flowers she had on too. Also, seen a few rasberries. I can never remember the name of any of the flowers, but if I see them I can say Allyson had that on her blog.
