I realized that most of the time I am writing about the beauty and joy of mountain living. As much as we love being up on this mountain, you can't help but miss a few things about being down below. I polled the crew to find out what creature comforts they missed when they were on the mountain for weeks at a time. Here were the responses.
Chrissy: constant communication and interaction with friends and family. Laurie: internet access and Wikipedia Walt: a good mattress Meredith: sushi Scott: steak John: tv and access to watching sports all day Bonnie: swimming Allyson: having a garden and growing fresh veggies Chris: having The New York Times newspaper readily available. The one creature comfort we could all agree on was indoor plumbing. Every winter I look forward to having the bathroom be in the same building that I live in. Now, with that being said, the pros to mountain life outweigh the comforts we miss. That will be saved for another blog entry.

A truly superb photo! Loved reading the creature comforts, too.

Oh, Allyson, you have done it again with an absolutely amazing photo! I love close-ups like this and also the bee on the flowers. Thanks so much for a beautiful and interesting post. I am surprised that some of you miss various media- television, newspaper, etc. I'm not sure, but I think I would miss ice cubes the most.

@Karen....I have to agree about missing ice cubes and "more convenient" access to plumbing.

Convenience of indoor right in the same building plumbing would be a biggie for me but I have to admit I'd miss my ice cold coke in the morning. That's like coffee to me. Great detailed pic Allyson.

Hi Allyson I tried to find you when we hiked up Alum Cave Bluffs this past Wed. but I would get where they thought you were and you had moved on. Oh well. I did talk to Chrissy a minute while I bought our shirts and candy bars. We took off after we ate our quick lunch and got down with a couple of sprinkles that felt good and when we sat in our Jeep it poured!! Nothing personal but I'm glad I didn't talk to you because I would have been soaked!! It was a great hike! You and the crew are so lucky to see different views each day. Also I saw your work at The Carousel. Wow. We are also going to have some brooms (different than David's) jump ropes and dog leashes and possibly a baby scrapbook there. We had a great time in Gatlinburg and the mountains. Can't wait to return!! Comments are closed.
