It is still cold on up top. The high yesterday was 33 with a low of 26. The clouds made for an amazing sunset last night. The mountain has been busy with day hikers and lots of guests. It is that time of year to make sure you have the right clothing if you are going to attempt a day hike. Remember, we are at least 20 degrees colder up top. Wear layers and bring a jacket. Another key piece of advice is remember to drink plenty of water. You may not feel like you are sweating, but you need to stay hydrated when hiking in these conditions.

Allyson: As usual, your advice is very good; one cannot emphasize enough the importance of proper layers in cool(er) weather conditions; I've encountered several folks over the years without proper gear, and it downright bothers me; lovely photos, too; I learned yesterday of the dates I'll be coming up next season; I'm a happy camper now;

Hi Allyson: I'm hiking up tomorrow night - and bringing my husband and our 8th month old baby for their first time! I am getting a little worried about the weather. Is it icey on the trails or should we just expect the lower temps once we get close to the top? Can't wait to be there!

The trails are pretty clear. I would just plan on the lower temperatures once you get up top. Today has already hit 44, so it is warming up. There are lots of people on the trail, the snow has melted off the trails.
