The present Is too much for the senses, Too crowding, too confusing- Too present to imagine. Robert Frost

Morning y'all,

It's a beautiful, hoarfrosty day up top. The high yesterday reached 42 degrees. The overnight low was 14 degrees. It was 15 degrees and clear at 7am observation. The mountain received no new precipitation yesterday. I am sure that the trails are a bit icy today, so be prepared for some slick conditions. Get out and enjoy this beautiful day!

Colours, West Point.

The light and colours coming up Alum last night were special. They felt especially warm and vibrant after three days of rain and clouds. All other concerns drop away in the face of this beauty.

JP - I'd be interested in your estimating how many miles you run on the various trails of LeConte during a winter season.

Raz,

I've got a general idea... I just came down with a cold, so I'll be resting up for a few days. I already miss it!

Beautiful pictures today and the quote from Robert Frost is so spot on for today. The present IS too confusing, too crowded and hard to imagine right now in so many ways. So, I let my mind wander to the past times I have spent and future days I will spend in the quietness of the Smokies and it gives me peace, as I'm sure it does to all who post here.

From yesterday's post...Tenderfoot, thanks for the kind remarks, I'm glad you read the blog. It was such a memorable experience on so many levels more than just finally getting to see what so many others have seen, the top of Leconte and the lodge. And to Norman....you CAN walk a 100 miles, maybe just in shorter increments! Have a Blessed day!

Those are incredible views, but I hope I never have to witness a sunset at the top of Alum Cave Trail (especially if we're on a day hike).
My wife and I are glad you're back for another year, JP. We're rooting for you to have snow... which leads to easily traceable bobkitten tracks.... which leads to bobkitten him/herself!
