Good morning,

It’s currently 28 degrees and socked-in up top. We received .5” inches of new snow. The road (HWY 441) is currently open. Stay up to date on any changes at the link below.

The soothing hum of wind can be heard in the distance. Fresh snow clings to my boots. Damp sleet kisses my cheeks. I smile. Winter was back up top - I was back in the shaken snow globe. How long before the glass ornament settles? How long before blue skies return? The thoughts don’t worry me much. I have plenty of books to keep me company during the grey days.

It’s colder than I anticipated and my coffee rest coolly back in the kitchen. How long do I want to dwell out here in the frozen rain? Again, the thoughts don’t worry me much. I have plenty of time to warm up…

I disappear into the forest.

Onward,
Seth

Thank you for your beautiful descriptive writings. My husband will be making his semi- annual trip up LeConte next Saturday with a few friends and family. If there’s anything you need or special requests, please let us know and he will bring it up, Lord willing. I’d love a pic of them with you. Keep up the writing.

Maybe we'll cross paths! Any type of fresh vegetable is always in demand. I do enjoy a nice slice of cheese too.

Happy trails,
Seth

love your posts -- the pictures are great. From the mid '90's until 2005, my wife I get came to LeConte each year the Sunday before Thanksgiving. We are from Jefferson County and have been secondary school educators for 43 years -- 23 years in New England and 20 in the South. We are retired now in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts. We have a print of Mt. LeConte by Randell Ogle over our fireplace. We are in our 70's and my wife had a heart transplant over seven years ago, but we dream of hiking LeConte again. Merry Christmas and be safe my friend.

Seth
Our plan is to visit Saturday, we have a couple small Christmas gifts for you and would like to know if you have a special request?
