Good morning,

It’s currently 38 degrees, wet, and cloudy. Yesterday’s high was 45 degrees, with an overnight low of 38. We received another inch of rain yesterday.

The trails are ice free but expect that to change if the temperature drops.

I trudged through the dank dripping darkness. Clouds continued to permeate through the trees. I moved slowly, quietly toward my destination. I thought with wonder at how different the landscape was just a week ago. I couldn’t help but to think of a particular past sunrise. The light, the snow, and the frosted trees were mesmerizing. The image was imprinted on my memory. As quickly as it had arrived, I let the image go. I brought my attention back to the moment, back to the now…

…the dripping evergreens glowed in the morning haze.

Onward,
Seth

Good Morning! I have to tell you that I greedily await your posts daily! Your musings are awe inspiring and thoughtful, but it's your photographs that I just can't get enough of... I can smell the snow in the cold morning light! I can't wait till our next visit to the mountain next month! Love day hiking in the winter months! Maybe we'll cross paths, till then, continue on!

It is disappointing that we have to wait for an update to the website. The flip side is that LeConte maintains it's beauty, the pictures by Seth and his comments along with all of the comments from all of us less the negatives from the dark side. The LeConte experience, is all positive and the delays are a small price to pay for the wonderful piece of the world we find here. Thank you Seth for your words and pictures.

Merry Christmas and the Happiest of New Years, Seth.....

I enjoy reading your posts......We stayed overnight at LeConte Lodge in about 1978 with our two children, Cana and Cory, who were near 5 and 7 years old......It was a great experience in every way......I have hiked all of the trails to the Lodge many times over the years.....Thank You!

Love your descriptive posts and beautiful photography. I photograph nature frequently and really appreciate your skill. Mount LeConte is my favorite mountain, because I have great memories of hiking to the very top many years ago. Have hiked to Alum Cave a time or two since.
