 It's not so extreme today, but I still cry at almost anything. It can be something as profound as the beauty of a grandchild in my arms or as trifling as the smile of a pretty girl winning a skating championship on TV. Life has become very moving. Johnny Cash Morning y'all, It's a calm morning up top. The high yesterday reached 50 degrees and the overnight low was 46 degrees. It was 49 degrees and mostly cloudy at 7am observation. The mountain received another 2.32" of rain yesterday, bringing our 5 day total close to 6 inches! Be prepared for some sloppy trails. It appears as though 441 is back open, so get out and enjoy the day!

Wondering if the lodge is open in March. Also, is the area hiking dog friendly? We are interested in planning a visit, but I w as hoping to find specifics on a wait list, pricing, etc. Looks like a dream!

JP, you should investigate that stream crossing above Rainbow Falls that is allegedly impassable after very heavy rains. I still contend that it can be negotiated as long as one has water shoes -- or perhaps waders and waterproof boots. I still don't believe the current could be that dangerous for the avid, hiker, but I've never had the opportunity to check it out. Your comment will be posted after it is approved.
