Did anyone else think it was spring?

4/5/2011

We now have about 2" of snow accumulation and seems to have quit for the time being.  I awoke to a winter-like wonderland this morning.  Who would have thought there would be snow today after running around in sandals and 60 degrees yesterday?  Overnight the temperature dropped dramatically down to 26 when I started preparing breakfast and has since reached 20. We have prepared for winter again.  As for the storm yesterday, everyone made it safely to the top before the storm hit around dinner.

Yep, that's East Tennessee weather for you. Just think, we still have blackberry winter to get through. That should be in the next couple of weeks. The snow shouldn't hang around for very long I don't think. The highs here in the valley for the weekend look to be in the upper 70's to low 80's.

Hi. I'm hiking this Friday with my parents and my husband. This is my first time. Little bit concerned about the cold weather. I know it's supposed to be warmer by Friday and Sat. But WOW!I wasn't expecting snow and ice.

My friend, Flute Walker (Mary Drake) made it to the top today! She says there IS snow there! She is very happy! Now take her picture so I can see it on Guest Sightings (smile)!

Last year this day, my family and I hike to the to Cliff Top. It was 78 up there. Hike August of 09 was a lot cooler. Still wish I was there. :)

I haven't disappeared, just had to change a lot of plans due to a knee problem which hopefully will get better before long; still some tests and remedies to try; I'm realy dispairing over having to cancel all six of my dates to the lodge this season; it breaks my heart greatly; And, beginning a new job yesterday has added some doubts about when I can return to that glorious place on the mountain; After working as a civil engineer, then a science teacher, and other jobs scattered around and in between, I'm working now as a deputy jailer with 'work release' inmates; Fairly interesting job; So, I remain a tremendous fan of the lodge, would still love to work there for a season, and hopefully I can get the knee in shape and get a cancellation sometime in the next few months; Meanwhile, I, as many others, enjoy your postings and all; Remember this: "If you don't know where you're going, any road will get you there, and no matter where you go, there you are, and it's the journey that's the destination." Peace my friends.

Just had to cancel our reservations for Thursday night, April 7. If anyone is looking for an open cabin, give the office a call.

It was my first time up there, My husband hiked it many many times. I loved it! It was high 70's when we started about 60 at the top and 20 with snow the next morning. It was like experiencing multiples seasons in 2 days...It was awesome! We hope to do it again next year:)
