Morning,

We had a beautiful Sunday to round out a stunning weekend. The high was 43 degrees and it was clear all day. The low was 30 degrees and it was 36 and cloudy at observation this morning. It is socked in on top right now, but looks like it'll clear again this afternoon.

I am thrilled by the prospect of these final 4 days of solitude before crew trickles back up top to start pre-season preparations. It will be a fitting way to end the season. Plenty of time for reflection, hiking all around and about, reading poetry, listening to my beloved oldies, writing letters to friends, etc. in the abundant sunshine of Mt. LeConte. As my friend JimmyJam K. likes to say, 'making memories!' It is inconceivable to me that the time has gone by this quickly and my departure is imminent. I think that is an indication that I have finally fallen into the lifestyle that is most amenable to my nature. I am so blessed.

JP, thanks for the wonderful comments, stories and keeping us in the know of the day to day events up top. Will miss your reports. Looking forwards to my hike up in late April, will be my 23 time up I think.

Adria, I am in awe of people like you who have hiked LeConte so many times. I've been visiting the Smokies for 40 yrs. & don't know why I've never done it before, but this Sept. will be my first time. Can't wait!

Take your time and enjoy yourself Carol. I would suggest going up Alum Cave Trail for your first time. Just warning you that you will be hooked.
