There is no shortage of good days. It is good lives that are hard to come by. A life of good days lived in the senses is not enough. The life of sensation is the life of greed; it requires more and more. The life of the spirit requires less and less; time is ample and its passage sweet. Who would call a day spent reading a good day? But a life spent reading -- that is a good life. Annie Dillard Morning y'all, It's a beautiful, foggy morning up top. The high yesterday reached 37 degrees. The overnight low was 28 degrees. It was 29 degrees and foggy at 7am observation. The mountain received .68 inches of liquid precipitation yesterday evening, which later produced 2 inches of snow. There is two inches of heavy, wet snow up top with some slick spots. As of this posting, Highway 441 is closed due to snow & ice. Get out and enjoy the day!

I am looking to hike Mount Leconte this Friday via the Alum Cave trail.

I agree with the Annie Dillard in that a life spent reading is a good life and I have been a prolific reader my entire life, but for me I would definitely call one day spent reading a good day, too. How one feels about the passage of time is a highly subjective matter depending one one's experiences and environment. Personally, there is not ample time because I will never live long enough to do all those things I wish to do nor go to all those places I wish to visit so I do my best to fit in everything that I can. I experience life and all that it has to offer through my senses but in no way does that mean I've lived a life of greed, far from it. I feel that I have lived a really blessed life. Just my opinion.................
