A runner is not in a game. He is in a contest. And that is a word whose Latin root means to witness or testify. Therefore anything else than all he can give is not enough. When you race you are under oath. You are testifying as to who you are. George Sheehan

Morning y'all,

It's a beautiful, snowy morning up top. The high yesterday reached 28 degrees. The overnight low was 13 degrees. It was 17 degrees and clear at 7am observation. The mountain received no new snow or precipitation and our snowfall total is about 8 inches. The trails are in good shape with the fresh powder, but I would still recommend cold weather gear if you intend to reach the summit. It's looking like it's shaping up to be a clear, sunny day! Get out and adventure!

Just out of curiosity which cabin in everyone's favorite to stay in?? We have our first overnight trip to LeConte Lodge this year and I could not be more excited!

We seem to always get #1 right up from the dining room. It has three rooms in it. Although, any cabin at the Lodge qualifies as a favorite!

Mel, if you are a large group requiring 2 or 3 bedrooms you will end up in cabins 1,2 or 3 in the lowest row nearest the dining hall. Then, if there are groups of five you will be on either side of the main stairs in cabins 4, 5 and 10. 4 and 5 are in row two along with 6 thru 9. 10 is sort of by itself not far from the main stairs. All in there is really not a bad one in the mix. I suppose it could vary with your need for privacy (9 is best) or group interaction 4-9. Just get there early and enjoy!

Thanks! I'm sure every cabin is amazing. Also JP thanks for the wonderful quote.

The quote is fabulous. My son is a runner and I emailed it to him at college.

JP, I always enjoy your quotes, but I will be keeping today's quote and using it. While hiking LeConte is definitely a sensory delight, it is also a "contest" to see if a hiker's body is up to the challenge. Giving less than everything on a hike to LeConte can mean a long, miserable day.Giving your all can lead to one of the best days of the year!
