Good morning,

It’s currently 47 degrees and partly cloudy up top. High winds continue to pummel Mt. Le Conte. Yesterday’s high was 53 degrees with an overnight low 46.

--

Clouds rolled over the mountaintops. Le Conte’s high point was coated in black clouds. Dubious of my sunrise prospects, I made a last minute decision to saunter towards the exposed sky toward Cliff Tops. Braving the wind, I gazed up at the strawberry skies as they hovered above the blueberry earth below.

Walking back towards the lodge, I thought about photo compositions and where I might capture them. Yesterday’s discoveries left me even more excited for snow and clear skies….

Would I see snow before my departure?

Onward,
Seth

Love the wide view of the cabins! And the little lone bird picture from yesterday, too. See you soon.

I have not been on Facebook long. I really enjoy staying in touch with the outside world. I had been homebound for quite awhile with cancer and chemo. Now cancer free. Used to be very active. Hiked all 5he time by myself. Of course you've been told a lot about your pictures and adventures on Mr. Leconte. Your pictures are quite beautiful but your writings are equally amazing. So just wanted to say thank you and I look forward to escaping with your post every day. Hopefully I will make it up this year. Hopefully you will continue on a regular basis to post. It also has encouraged me to venture up again. Have a great.day! But look where.you are.

That is an interesting photo, I have never seen that view of the lodge. We are also wishing you another good snow before your season ends.

Wow that was a great run going up the mountain. I am 67 years old and last year made it up in 2 and 1/2 hours, I thought that was pretty good. I would make it about as far as Alum cave about the time you would have went up to the top and back down to Alum Cave!! I have hiked most of the national parks and I would put Alum cave in my top 5. What a beautiful place, also what beautiful photography.

I would like to see a photo of the wood skis with spring binding that are over the dining room exit. I used them skiing from the back kitchen steps to the burn barrel where I crashed into bushes.
Also a nighttime photo of the dining room apex which points to Polaris the North Star.

I really like that photo. Where did you take that from?

The photo I'm talking about is the cabins.
