Frosty Morning

11/24/2013

Picture
It is a great morning to be in the warm kitchen putting the final touches on the Mountain Thanksgiving feast. It was 4º when I awoke at 4:30 to the put the turkey in the oven. It is currently 3º. The high yesterday was 34º. Needless to say, it is cold at the top.  It is days like this that I am so grateful my commute to work is from one room to another in the same building. There is frost on the trees but no snow on the ground. The trails will be icy, so please take your time coming up today. We will have some hot chocolate waiting for you when you reach the top. Happy Hiking.

Oh brrr! That's cold. You beat me this morn. I'm at 19. That turkey must be starting to smell pretty good about right now. Enjoy your feast!

One of my student, Micah, was out on Friday in order to make the annual hike to the lodge with his family. Can't wait to hear about his stay there! I'm green with envy. I had back surgery in the spring and am not yet able to make the hike, but I'll be back!

Oh , how I wish these elderly legs of mine would take me to the top just once more! Thanksgiving up there so close to the heavens sounds marvelous. Best wishes to all who make the trek....enjoy every moment and stop to look at the small wee things around your feet as you climb.

Hi Allison... We Joneses won't be making the trip today as planned. Medical problem, unfortunately. Enjoy your Thanksgiving feast and short commute! :)
