Our future Leconte crew member, Baby Jane, has come back to visit us. She is still not as interested in drying dishes as she is about going out side and looking at rocks. We have hope that will change. We love seeing the LeConte family bring their next generation back to the mountain we all hold so dearly in our heart. She is going to have to wait on the rock hunting. It is time to wash the syrup off of her. She discovered she likes syrup on everything, and I mean everything.
John had a busy day off yesterday. He decided 5 times up and down Alum Cave in one day was not enough. He set out yesterday morning and completed 65 miles on the popular trail. He made 6 1/2 trips up and down. He said he slept extremely well last night. It made me tired just thinking about it. I think it is time to teach John to knit. The high yesterday was 59 with a low of 49. It is currently raining on the mountain.

Awww...Baby Jane is a cutie and certainly looks like a LeConte keeper. Congrats, son John. Yah, maybe knit 1 purl 2 isn't a bad idea.

Pat, did you happen to drop John on his head several times when he was a baby?

Good one, Mark:)...No, I didn't...but maybe I should have. I guess my hike to LeConte via Alum Cave Trail when I was 6 months pregnant with him was the beginning of his love for hiking, Alum Trail, and Leconte.

Now that explains it all. It's his mom's fault.

Great photo! Tell John hand-knit hats and wool socks are the best! I'll bring him some wool, but he'll have to hike down to retrieve it. :)
