Great Day For Being in the Mountains

9/27/2013

Picture
Here is another picture from a couple of days ago. I am hoping we get a repeat today. The clouds are gone and the sun is making its presence known. Yesterday was a grey day as we sat in the clouds all day. The high was only 53º with a low of 38º. It is looking like the weekend has potential to be a stellar one. It would be a great time to join us up top for a cup of hot chocolate and a rest in the rocking chairs on our back porch. I hope we see you on the mountain. Happy Hiking

Allyson, beautiful picture. It looks like a big frothy caldera with spumy steam coming off. What an amazing eye you have for framing your shots

I want to be there too! So beautiful!

Doug - I know those cabins behind Elkmont. We love exploring those old cabins! And Avent Cabin up Jakes Creek - many people don't know about that one.

Happy Hiking!

Have a wonderful time for me Dawn! I live here in St. Louis and I hate being so far from my favorite place.

I'm in the same boat as you Brian, I started in 2009 too. That is a cool shirt though.

I started in october 2010 and then waited a whole year before going back. I bought my son a shirt in 2010 but didn't get myself one. I can't reveal my sources..( to hard to find).. but I have now aquired a 2010 mt leconte shirt.

Yeap. 2008 it correct. My wife and I still have our first from 1999 but they were a bit to worn to take on the trip.
We each took ones from '08 but it was too cold and windy on the day of the photo for her to drop down to just a T-shirt. It was fun looking for an interesting place for the shot on our trip. The castle has an interesting history and legend worth researching online if anyone cares to.
