The incredible sunrise we witnessed yesterday did not last long. We got a short tease and in blew the clouds. It proceeded to rain on us for the rest of the day. Maybe today will be like yesterday just opposite. We are currently socked in. My hope is the sun will burn through the clouds and leave us with a beautiful day on the mountain. The temperatures have been in the mid 50s during the days and low 40s at night. As for the weather pattern, this is a typical May. We see a lot of rain in the months of May and June.

I am hoping the rain holds off for a couple of days. We are hiking up tomorrow (Thursday) and enjoying our visit on the top of the mountain until we hike down Saturday.

From my desk in Indianapolis, this picture looks great! I was there with many friends 2 years ago and saw a spectacular sunrise.

Some of my favorite moments on the Mountain have been with "views" like that one. It is also fun to be on Myrtle Point on a day where clouds are socked in on one side of the mountain, but it is clear on the other side. Watching the clouds trying to invade the clear space is an interesting meteorological struggle to witness! Of course, a totally socked in day on LeConte beats a bright clear sunny 70 degree day here at home in Middle TN.
