Hanging On

"The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web." - Pablo Picasso
One thing I like to do on rainy, foggy mornings is check out the spider webs. I am so impressed with the fact that something that looks so delicate is so sturdy in the wind. I liked this little guys web because it was still under construction. I guess the beauty of the blanket surrounding us on mornings like this is the fact it makes us take notice of our environment closest to us.

As you can tell from my description, we are socked in and wet this morning. We received a little under  half an inch of rain last night. There was an impressive lightning storm going on out my window as I fell asleep. The low was only 53 and the high yesterday was in the mid 60s. We have seen a lot of cloud coverage over the past month. I am ready for some clear blue skies and beautiful days on the mountain. My "happy light" has been working overtime.

Happy light, thats nicely said. We all need one sometimes. You more than others lately with all that rain youv'e been getting. WOW!! Must be starting to look like a jungle up there with all that moisture. How are the mosquitoes??? When I went last year it amazed me in Aug. I think I had 2 buzzing around me and a few nats. But that was it. Beautiful sunny day here in Michigan. Not a cloud in the sky and the humid hotness seems to be gone.

Hiked to the lodge today and returned via the Boulevard Trail. On the return, Hiked to the Jump Off (1st time). The view was incredible. Will probably make a stop at the Smoky Mountain Brewery for "medication" to help sore/aching muscles.

Congrats on the top 6. #1 in my book. I dint know there was a mountain cam. How do access it?

It's a camera pointed towards the mountain from one of the rental homes around Gatlingburg. I'm on the road now, and can't look it up, but just Google "LeConte cam" and you should find it.

The design was influenced by his brother in law, Bernard Maybeck. White's design reflected the vertical nature, color and texture of Yosemite Valley by featuring a steep, pitched roof, rough hewn granite stone walls and exposed beams. Thanks.

The lodge's initial construction predates the National Park Service's later emphasis on rustic construction, and marks a transition from formal European design prototypes to a design philosophy more aligned with locale and native building materials. Thanks.

The picture shown here proves that you are a good photographer. I do agree with you that, there is something interesting about the spider webs. The way they create their web is amazing. Thanks for sharing this article with us and keep posting more updates.
